The Detroit Lions have a lot of areas to address from the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. It will help significantly having the best defensive player in the draft in Chase Young fall into their lap.

The Lions were tied for 29th in the league in total sacks accounted for (28) in 2019. This is also concerning because the past few times that the Lions have drafted pass rushers in the first round, they have been busts.

Moreover, one of their sack leaders in 2019 in linebacker Devon Kennard is now with the Arizona Cardinals.

Young accumulated 16.5 sacks in 12 games last season for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Young can come in immediately and accumulate a rookie defensive player of the year season. His impact could match Nick Bosa’s rookie season with the San Francisco 49ers this past season.

Having Young and Trey Flowers will be a huge asset to their team that lacks star playing ability.
