For the first time all season, Nebraska hits the road and this time it’ll be against another Big Ten foe as conference play resumes on Oct. 3.

Northwestern isn’t exactly the same team that won the Big Ten West a couple of years ago, but Pat Fitzgerald is a heck of a coach and will get the Wildcats to forget about the disaster that was 2019 and get back on track in 2020.

Unfortunately, games played in Evanston don’t often come with overwhelming home-field advantage for the Wildcats. Advantage: Nebraska.

Final Score: Nebraska 34, Northwestern 24 (5-0, 2-0)

A 5-0 start to the season with a trip back home and a chance to reach bowl eligibility in six games against a beatable Illinois team? Maybe this season will be special after all for Nebraska.

The Cornhuskers return to Lincoln after their first road win of the season against Northwestern and even though the Illini improved tremendously last season under Lovie Smith, they’re not nearly at the level of contenders.

Nebraska may not be either, but the Cornhuskers are tough to beat at home. Time to go bowling.

Final Score: Illinois 21, Nebraska 33 (6-0, 3-0)
