Maryland head coach Mike Locksley and his staff are looking for players this season. It was a disappointing first season in College Park for the new head coach. They suffered some key injuries offensively and the defensive was abysmal.

This season, the Terps lack depth. They lost 13 players from last season’s team. When looking for who is Maryland’s most important recruit, in many ways you can take your pick. Running back Anthony McFarland left early for the NFL and they need someone to carry the football.

The Terrapins have to replace five players from last season’s front seven including three players from their defensive line. They lost three senior offensive linemen. The only position they are deep is a wide receiver.

That’s why it makes little sense that Rakim Jarrett would be their most important recruit, on the surface. They need someone to step in a play well at defensive line and running back. However, Jarrett is a five-star the Terps flipped from LSU.

Five-stars come with a simple expectation: take a spot from a veteran starter. He’s the best recruit to sign with Maryland since Stefon Diggs. He’s big, fast and strong with great hands and speed to burn. He has all the tools to elevate the Terrapin program, and they need him to.
