NFL Draft 2020: Ranking the 3 biggest reaches from the first round
This one was a toss-up between Jordan Love and Texas Tech’s Jordyn Brooks going at No. 27 to the Seahawks — which was also an incredibly confusing pick — but I had to go with the former because the Packers gave up a lot to get him. And they got him early.
There’s a good chance Love would have been there somewhere in the second round or even at No. 30. Unless they were worried about the Titans picking Love at No. 29, this move made very little sense, especially since they gave up a fourth-round pick as well.
On top of this, I don’t think Love was worth a first-round selection. He could become a very good NFL quarterback, but he took a step back in 2019 after a breakout 2018 season. He hasn’t proven enough at the collegiate level to warrant this type of recognition and, frankly, this looked like a panic move by Green Bay.
Oh, and what the heck is Aaron Rodgers going to think of this? Is his time running out with the Packers? Are they about to give up on him after 15-plus years in the league?
So many questions, so few answers.
