Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. LB. Jordyn Brooks. 2. 36. Texas Tech. player

There is a fun game that I like to play every NFL draft and that is who will the Seattle Seahawks reach on this year? Going back to when they selected Bruce Irvin 15th overall in the 2012 draft, the Seahawks have been known for trading back or making some head-scratching selections, such as LJ Collier last year and Rashaad Penny the year before.

Now with that being said, I have a lot of respect for Pete Carroll and the team that he has built and maintained in Seattle but this year’s pick was a bit of a head-scratcher.

The Seahawks had some glaring needs on both the offensive and defensive lines and one could argue at receiver as well. They elected to take linebacker Jordyn Brooks out of Texas Tech and I don’t think many people had him pegged as a first-round prospect and that’s not Seattle’s biggest need with Bobby Wagner and KJ Wright still on the team.

This feels like a pick with eyes toward the future, but Seahawks fans will be questioning this pick if LSU’s Patrick Queen goes on to have a great season and career because he was still on the board when they made this selection.
