NFL Draft 2020: Top 3 candidates for Offensive Rookie of the Year
Within a few weeks before the 2020 NFL Draft, there were reports that the Denver Broncos were looking to move up in the draft to select a reliable No. 1 wide receiver. With the draft favoring defensive players and offensive tackles, the Broncos were able to stay put with the 15th overall pick and select their target receiver.
Jerry Jeudy is an immediate impact receiver that is highly reliable in catching the ball and immediate speed. He was regarded as one of the best route runners in many of the past drafts.
In the first two years of his career with the Alabama Crimson Tide, he was listed as an outside receiver. This past season, Jeudy made the transition as an inside receiver which only benefitted his case as a dominant route runner.
In his sophomore season at Alabama, Jeudy caught 68 passes for 1,315 yards and 14 touchdowns. This was with Jeudy as the No. 1 receiver on the outside. This past season, he caught 77 passes for 1,163 yards and 10 touchdowns. Jeudy was the main impact receiver in the slot while running multiple outside routes.
Last season, the Broncos were ranked 28th in passing yards per game (194.7). The Broncos were able to make their transition to Drew Lock as their franchise quarterback. Courtland Sutton showed great potential as a 2019 Pro Bowl selection.
Jeudy’s dynamic route running and diverse playmaking abilities will make him a top reliable receiver for the Broncos. He could be the most impactful receivers from the 2020 NFL Draft class as the number one receiver for a team that craves a strong passing game.
