Pick Analysis. 3. Scouting Report. TE. Notre Dame. Cole Kmet. player. 57

One of the awesome things about the draft is the stories. Every boy that starts playing football dreams of suiting up for their hometown team. Cole Kmet gets to do just that. He grew up an Irish fan and got to play his college ball in South Bend.

More from NFL Draft

Now he gets to play his professional ball for his hometown Bears. A lot has been made of Chicago having 10 tight ends on their roster by drafting Kmet. Pay that no mind. The Bears had the least productive tight end group in the NFL last season.

Kmet was the best tight end in the draft this season by far. He has big, soft hands and knows how to get open. The former two-sport star at Notre Dame is a matchup nightmare for defenses. He is fast enough to separate from linebackers and big enough to body safeties who try to defend him.

This is a team that is desperate for tight end production. Keep in mind, head coach Matt Nagy is an Andy Reid disciple. Think of how the Chiefs use Travis Kelce. Kmet is an ideal fit for this offense. His mastery of the seams of the defense is going wreak havoc next season.

The Bears finally got their “Baby Gronk”.
