Tee Higgins. 56. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Clemson. WR. 3. player

You knew there was going to be a run on wide receivers at some point in this draft. This was one of the deepest wide-receiver drafts in some time. With the NFL adapting their offensive philosophies to what college prospects do, wide receivers are having more of an impact in the league day one.

More from NFL Draft

The run on wide receivers happened around the middle of the first round. One receiver you did not see off of the board during that run was former Clemson star Tee Higgins. Most scouts and experts had him as a first-round draft pick.

The Bengals were more than happy to draft him with the first pick in the second round.

Joe Burrow needs receivers that are versatile and can win contested catches. The young man from Athens, Ga., will learn quickly that receivers won’t be open like they were at LSU.

Higgins played all three receiver positions at Clemson and high-points the ball as well as any receiver in this draft. He wins 50/50 ball as well as CeeDee Lamb, though he might not be as dynamic after the catch.

Anytime you have a young quarterback you expect to start day one having a big target is an asset. Higgins and his 6-4 frame will give Burrow a large target to throw to and give him a sense of security in the passing game. The Bengals got an absolute steal in Higgins.
