As a sophomore in 2019, California‘s Christopher Brown Jr. established himself as one of the top running backs the Pac-12.

He ran for 914 yards and eight touchdowns while catching 22 passes for 166 yards and four touchdowns.

With one year down as a starter, Brown is already among the top returning backs in the conference and next season should take another big step as the Golden Bears offense figures to be among the best in the Pac-12.

CJ Verdell played a crucial role in guiding Oregon to both a Pac-12 title and Rose Bowl victory last season.

Verdell posted his second straight 1,000 yard rushing season by rushing for 1,220 yards and eight touchdowns. He was named the MVP of the Ducks Pac-12 Championship Game win over Utah after rushing for 208 yards and three touchdowns. He earned second-team All-Pac-12 honors as a result.

The Ducks will look for another 1,000-yard season for their back and perhaps more production in the passing game, which is what kept him from earning the top spot among the Pac-12 running backs.

Washington State‘s Max Borghi is compared by many to former Pac-12 standout and current NFL All-Pro Christian McCaffrey.

Borghi is among the top runners and pass-catchers in the entire nation. In 2019 he ran for 817 yards and 11 touchdowns while hauling in 86 passes for 597 yards and five touchdowns. He was named. He finished second in the Pac-12 with 16 total touchdowns and tied for third in Washington state single-season history.

As a dynamic all-around weapon, Borghi is the top running back in the conference and could be among the first selected in the 2021 NFL Draft of any running back nationwide.
