College Football: Each Power Five conference’s top 3 running backs for 2020
Mississippi State‘s Kylin Hill is among the many talented and experienced backs returning to the SEC next season. After rushing for 734 yards as a sophomore in 2018, Hill ran for a career-high 1,350 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2019. He also added 18 catches for 180 yards and a touchdown.
Hill was named first-team All-SEC and surprised many with his decision to come back to college.
In his fourth year, Hill will be coached by one of the nation’s top offensive minds in Mike Leach, which should help solidify his spot as a top back in the SEC and as a legit prospect in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Not much has gone right for the Arkansas Razorbacks the past two seasons, but Rakeem Boyd has at least kept the program relevant in the SEC.
The former Last Chance U star ran for 1,133 yards and eight touchdowns for the Hogs last season. He averaged a productive 6.2 yards per carry and ranked fourth in the SEC and 27th nationally with an average of 94.4 rushing yards per game.
With new head coach Sam Pittman in town, the Hogs should have an improved offensive line that will allow Boyd to fully showcase why he’s a top back in the nation’s most competitive conference.
Alabama‘s Najee Harris will enter 2020 as the SEC’s top running back after a stellar junior campaign in 2019.
Harris ran for 1,224 yards and 13 touchdowns while catching 17 passes for 304 yards and seven touchdowns. He earned All-SEC second-team honors and carried the Tide to a Citrus Bowl win over Michigan after rushing for 146 yards and a touchdown.
If Alabama wants to get back to the College Football Playoff in 2020 after a one-year hiatus, Harris will play a pivotal role as he enters his senior season with sky-high expectations.
