829. . . . Alabama (2014). 6. player

The 2014 Alabama Crimson Tide became the first top seed of the College Football Playoff era.

Alabama put together a 12-1 regular season that included victories over No. 21 Texas A&M, No. 14 LSU, No. 1 Mississippi State and a 42-13 blowout of Missouri in the SEC Championship Game

The Tide’s roster featured Biletnikoff Award winner Amari Cooper, a running back trio of Derrick Henry, T.J. Yeldon and Kenyan Drake, O.J. Howard at tight end and a defense that included Jonathan Allen, Dalvin Tomlinson, Reggie Ragland, Landon Collins and Eddie Jackson.

Still, this would not even be enough to advance to a national championship game as Alabama was upset by fourth-seeded Ohio State in the first-ever playoff semifinals.

That leaves Alabama’s stacked 2014 roster on this list instead of the champions list.
