Entering his junior season, Joe Tryon is one of the best outside linebackers in the Pac-12 as evidenced by his inclusion on the All-Pac-12 second team in 2019.

When you look at his numbers, you might not be blown away by his total tackles, but it’s clear that he was utilized as a blitzing linebacker and caused havoc on opposing offenses by constantly getting in the backfield and disrupting plays.

Tryon came in as a defensive end recruit who could stand up and play linebacker and with his 6-foot-5, 260-pound frame, that makes sense.

After redshirting in 2017, Tryon got some decent playing time in 2018, appearing in 10 games with 20 tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack. He broke out as a sophomore in 2019, starting in 12 games and appearing in all 13, recording 41 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss and eight sacks.

NFL teams will take notice of this kid because of his frame and his ability to create problems for offenses in the backfield and he should be a mid-round prospect, at the very least, if he continues his upward climb as a player in 2020.
