SEC Football: Every team’s best newcomer for 2020 season
By Dante Pryor
This is arguably the most interesting storyline in the SEC this season. The Alabama Crimson Tide, looking to get back to the College Football Playoff, has to decide whether to start the veteran Mac Jones or hand the reigns to five-star quarterback Bryce Young.
Jones has a leg up because he has been in the program and knows the offense, but Young is the more dynamic playmaker. Without the benefit of spring and summer practice, Bryce Young could take longer to acclimate himself to the offense.
The Crimson Tide are looking to get back into the National Semifinal after missing the playoff for the first time ever. Nick Saban and the Tide know in order to return to the Playoff and win a national title, they need elite quarterback play.
Young is the total package at quarterback, and it is only a matter of time before he takes the job. There is an expectation of 5-star recruits, however. Coaches expect them to get on campus and figure it out.
If Saban determines his best chance to win a National title is with Young, he’ll pull the trigger; he’s done it before.
