SEC Football: The best quarterback in each program’s history
One of SEC football’s all-time passing leaders
While Chase Daniel is well known as a big personality backup quarterback, many forget he put together a historic college career that earns him the title as the best signal-caller in Missouri program history.
Daniel leads the Tigers’ program history in passing yards (12,515), passing touchdowns (101) and ranks both first and second on the school’s single-season passing touchdown record list with 4,335 yards in 2008 and 4,306 in 2007.
During Daniel’s four years at Missouri, the Tigers were still playing their football in the Big 12. There, Daniel led the program to a 38-7 Cotton Bowl win over Arkansas in 2007 and 30-23 victory over Northwestern in the 2008 Alamo Bowl.
The signal-caller was named the 2007 Big 12 offensive player of the year after throwing for 4,306 yards and 33 touchdowns while adding 253 rushing yards and four touchdowns.
He went undrafted in 2009 but earned a Super Bowl ring as a rookie backup with the New Orleans Saints and went onto serve as a backup quarterback for the Chiefs, Eagles and Bears. Daniel signed a three-year, $13.05 million contract with the Detroit Lions this past offseason
