SEC Football: The best quarterback in each program’s history
SEC football’s most recent superstar
While it may feel like recency bias, Joe Burrow is simply the best quarterback to don the LSU gold and purple.
In just two seasons, Burrow threw for 8,565 yards at LSU, putting him in second in program history. His 76 career touchdowns is a program record.
Burrow will go down in college football lore for his Heisman-winning 2019 season that saw him throw a single-season program FBS record 60 touchdowns. He threw for 5,671 yards and led the Tigers to a 15-0 record that ended in a victory over Clemson in the national title game.
In the Tigers’ 2019 Peach Bowl victory over Oklahoma, Burrow threw for 493 yards and a program single-game record seven touchdowns proving no stage was too large.
On top of winning the Heisman, Burrow was named a unanimous All-American and took home the Maxwell, Walter Camp, Johnny Unitas Golden Arm, Davey O’Brien, Manning, Lombardi and AP College Football Player of the Year awards.
Burrow was drafted with the first overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft by his home state, Cincinnati Bengals.
