College Football Playoff: Top sleeper from each Power 5 conference in 2020
ACC: Louisville Cardinals
The Louisville Cardinals will be just two seasons removed from a two-win year in 2018, but they’ve got as good of a chance as (almost) anybody to win the ACC and make a run to the College Football Playoff. If I had to bet on it — I wouldn’t — they’ve got a sliver of a chance.
Coming off of a second place finish in the Atlantic division, the Cardinals have momentum. And fortunately for Clemson, that’s the most hope that any team in the ACC can claim toward taking down the perennial champion Tigers. If they can put together a half-decent defense, they might have a shot to win the conference.
And that should be their sole goal: beat Clemson.
Louisville has plenty of players returning and is destined for a big step forward in 2020. If their team plays complete football next season, there’s no reason they can’t pull the upset. Again though, if I’m a betting man, I’d say they win nine games and get blown out in a bowl game, but you never know.
