3. Amari Rodgers, Clemson football’s most experienced target

The Tigers have options for a No. 1 receiver for Trevor Lawrence.

One option is the seniority option where they can rely on the player with the most experience. Amari Rodgers finished his junior season as the fourth-leading receiver in terms of yards with 426. After the injury to Ross, he could be the top receiver for the Tigers.

For the past two seasons, Rodgers has been utilized as a flex wide receiver, lining up at both outside and in the slot. His main impact in the passing game is the ability to catch screens or short passes and create yards through run after the catch. He’s highly-elusive with his change of direction and his dangerous speed after a few seconds to get a destination set.

Last season as a junior, Rodgers caught 30 passes for 426 yards and four touchdowns. As a sophomore in 2018, Rodgers caught 55 passes for 575 yards and four touchdowns. His production as a vertical receiver went down when the Tigers recruited and played two true freshmen receivers as the deep wideouts.

It will highly unlikely that Rodgers will the main outside receiver unless they have another playmaker transition to the flex receiver position.

While Rodgers lacks the size and height to beat a man coverage cornerback but he can beat him in deep vertical routes with a change of directions and great breakout speed.
