With no Anthony Brown and no AJ Dillion, Kobay White — who almost transferred himself — returns as Boston College’s best player. Although he’s a wide receiver, for Boston College to have a mythical run to the ACC championship and a national semifinal berth, he’d have to do more than just catch passes.

With new head coach Jeff Hafley coming to Chestnut Hill, the Eagles will move away from the power offense they employed under former head coach Steve Addazio. Offensive coordinator Frank Cignetti will use White in a myriad of ways offensively.

White’s versatility means he can get the ball in a myriad of ways. Expect White to get some jet sweep action, wildcat packages, and possibly some option action. With Notre Dame transfer Phil Jurkovec’s eligibility status in the air, expect White to get a lot of touches.

One way to get White more touches this season is on special teams. Every wide receiver who won the Heisman Trophy was a special team stand out. Tim Brown, Desmond Howard and Johnny Rodgers were all standout kick and punt returners.

Though White does not have much experience doing either, that is an excellent way to get him more touches and more ways to impact the game. One thing is for sure, if the Eagles make a run, White will be the reason.
