5. Dakota Allen, LB, Season 2 (EMCC)

One of the most high-profile players to appear on Last Chance U, Dakota Allen made the most of his opportunity following a dismissal from the Texas Tech football program following the 2015 season.

He went to East Mississippi with the right attitude, too, serving as a tutor for some teammates and even getting baptized.

Like most of these guys, though, it was all about football, and Allen excelled tremendously. He tallied 117 tackles during his lone season as a Lion and earned scholarships from Bowling Green, Texas Tech, and Troy; he opted to finish what he started in Lubbock and re-joined the Red Raiders.

Upon his return, Allen patrolled the Texas Tech defense and recorded 162 tackles over two seasons, including 11.5 tackles-for-loss and two sacks. He also managed two interceptions and six pass deflections on his way to All-Big 12 honors.

Following his senior season at TTU, Allen entered the 2019 NFL Draft and was chosen by the Los Angeles Rams with the 251st pick. He was cut in late August before re-signing to the Rams’ practice squad.
