College Football: 3 teams that’ll bounce back from disappointing 2019 season
1. Washington Football (8-5)
Don’t overreact. If you’re a mad reddit user, read this slide before you copy and paste my bounce-back teams without any context into your precious forum. Washington will bounce back. Will the Huskies contend whenever the season starts? Probably not, but they will bounce back.
To understand what I mean by a bounce-back season, you first have to understand that this isn’t a team that has won a national championship in recent years. This is a team that has only had one season with more than 10 wins since the turn of the century. They’re the definition of an overrated program.
That being said, I like this team. Despite head coach Chris Petersen leaving after an extremely successful stint, this squad still has a lot of good pieces in place. The defense returns seven starters; this includes two All-Pac-12 selections.
Turn your head to the offense, and you’ll start to see some questions.
The Huskies lost their starting quarterback in Jacob Eason and will turn to sophomore Jacob Sirmon. Much of the fate of this team will rest in Sirmon’s hands, or more literally, his arm. The offense could be great and could be awful, but there is a lot of promising young talent on this team that could bring them back to being a 10-win program.
