Rutgers: Kansas Jayhawks

In arguably the easiest match that I’ll make in this entire article, Rutgers fans should watch the Kansas Jayhawks play football this fall if they want a team that feels similar to their own. Both of these teams are undeniably the worst programs in their respective conferences. Similarly to the Scarlet Knights, the Jayhawks rarely win more than three games in a season.

Northwestern: Duke Blue Devils

Northwestern is not generally known for their football prowess in the Big Ten. They did make a recent conference championship appearance, but generally aren’t a premier team in this league. If you’re a Northwestern fan and want to root for a team with arguably even better academics than you wildcats, the Duke Blue Devils are the team for you.

Purdue: Vanderbilt Commodores

Purdue fans may have the occasional upset win, but they crave the assurance that their team won’t finish at the top of their division standings. Okay, maybe they don’t crave it, but their team’s ceiling is low and they usually float around .500. This makes them the perfect equivalent to the Vanderbilt Commodores, who aren’t awful, but won’t win a title any time soon. As a bonus, these teams have a very similar color scheme.

Maryland: Wake Forest Demon Deacons

Maryland and Wake Forest’s football programs are not in the same spot in 2020, but the history of each of these teams is very similar. Maryland fans will feel a blast from the past as the Deacon Demons are experiencing a very similar stroke of success as the Terrapins did just over a decade ago.
