12. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (1-2, 1-1)

In the song Tick, Tick, Bang by Prince, he penned the words, “You’re such a big tease, you get me all excited, and then you call home.” That’s how Georgia Tech feels this season so far. The Yellow Jackets are at least a year away — probably closer to two years away — but they flash so often it is such a tease.

Against Syracuse, freshman phenom quarterback Jeff Sims played his worst game in his brief Yellow Jackets career. Sims completed less than 50 percent of his passes and threw four interceptions and did not lead the team in rushing for the first time this season in Georgia Tech’s 20-37 loss to the Syracuse Orange.

The one consistency with the Yellow Jackets this season has been their inconsistency. This is to be expected with a true freshman quarterback. There has been a lot of drives that start with promise only to stall. The defense does not have quite the bite it had last season. Tech gets Louisville next week. A step in the right direction would be taking advantage of a marginal Louisville defense.
