College Football Rankings 2020: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 6
By Zach Bigalke
Florida improved to 2-0 in fairly convincing fashion, downing South Carolina by two touchdowns at the Swamp in early Week 5 action. The Gators continue to look like the class of the SEC East after the 38-24 victory in the home opener, and they should remain slotted in a top-four spot when the next AP Top 25 comes out for Week 6 on Sunday.
Kyle Trask didn’t put up huge numbers, finishing with 268 yards through the air on 21-of-29 passing. He did throw for four touchdowns and added 22 yards on a half-dozen carries, but he also threw an interception and lost a fumble. Florida struggled in general to get their ground game going, as the team finished with only 80 net yards on 24 carries. The defense gave up 212 yards through the air to Collin Hill and 117 on the ground to the Gamecocks and failed to force any takeaways.
It won’t matter to enough voters, which will keep the Gators on all ballots and firmly in the top tier of 2020 contenders for another week. They will be the higher-ranked team when they head to College Station next week for an interdivisional battle against Texas A&M.
