4. Texas wins the Red River Rivalry

Before the start of the season, there was so much hope for this game being one of the best of 2020. This game was going to be a factor for the hunt for the Big 12 title game and give the winner an early edge for a College Football Playoff spot. Instead, the Sooners have experienced one of the most disappointing starts to the season since 2016.

The Sooners have started Big 12 play 0-2 and now face their rivals in No. 22 Texas. The Longhorns are also coming two straight disappointing performances as they had to beat Texas Tech 63-56 in overtime and then lost to TCU at home 33-31.

ESPN’s FPI (Football Power Index) is giving the Longhorns a 67 percent chance to win but the Sooners are 2.5-point favorites. Oklahoma currently has a two-game winning streak over the Longhorns. The last time the Longhorns won was in 2018 by three points, 48-45. This was the last time in the previous three matchups that Texas scored more than 27 points.

The Longhorns average 51 points per game (first in the nation) through three games. Senior quarterback Sam Ehlinger has passed for 924 yards, 14 touchdowns and two interceptions.

The Sooners offense averages 37.7 points per game under new starting quarterback Spencer Rattler.

This will be a complete offensive performance for both Texas and Sooners. The key to the game will be the experience between both teams, which gives Texas the edge.
