Iowa State Football: 3 takeaways from convincing win over Texas Tech
2. Brock Purdy is rounding into form
People were quick to judge Brock Purdy after a season-opening loss to Louisiana in which he had one of the worst games of his career. He was supposed to be a captain and top NFL draft prospect at quarterback but he looked pedestrian and was upset by the Ragin’ Cajuns on his own field.
Things have turned around quickly.
Following that performance, Purdy and Co. have rattled off three straight wins. Not just that, but the junior quarterback has improved each week.
In fact, he had 145 yards and an interception on 16-of-35 passing in an opening loss but he followed that up with 211 yards and a touchdown on 18-of-23 passing in a win over TCU. He then helped pull off an upset of Oklahoma by completing 12-of-24 passes for 254 yards and a score and then Saturday’s performance took the cake.
Against Texas Tech, he was 32-for-43 for 302 yards and two touchdowns; his best performance of the season.
Purdy hasn’t thrown an interception since the opening week and now has his first multi-touchdown performance of the season and his accuracy is finally showing up.
