Notre Dame Football: 3 takeaways from comfortable win over Florida State
2. Jordan Travis provided mini spark vs. Notre Dame
I know it’s tough to see the silver lining for Florida State. However, the Seminoles put up 26 points which was the same amount as their first two games combined.
Jordan Travis has proven to be a very good athlete in the reps that he has received in the 2020 season. He was keeping the Irish defense honest early on, especially on the outside quarterback runs FSU was running.
Travis was not incompetent as a passer either, connecting with Tamorrion Terry nine times for 146 yards and a touchdown. A late interception inside the redzone and a possible hand injury caused him to be taken out in favor of former starter James Blackman. It wasn’t pretty, but Travis was able to provide some life on a seemingly lifeless Florida State offense.
Going forward, Travis should continue to be the starter for the Seminoles. Their offense still isn’t great, but they did look a bit more spooky with Travis running the show. Blackman is a more polished passer, but what Travis outweighs that with what he brings on the ground.
