1. Louisiana-Monroe gets embarrassed by Liberty

One of the worst teams in the nation keeps finding themselves in a bigger hole after Week 6. Louisiana-Monroe entered into Week 6 with a 0-4 record as they were trying to find some rhythm going forward. They had the tough task to face the undefeated Liberty Flames in Lynchburg.

The Warhawks suffered their fifth loss of the season with a 40-7 loss to the Flames as they could not find an answer on both sides of the ball. The Warhawks were out-gained in total yards 400-198 as well as first downs 20-10. The game was close in the beginning as the Flames took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and a 24-0 score going into halftime.

On offense, the Warhawks were highly inefficient as they were only 1-of-16 on third-down conversions. They turned the ball over three times with two of them coming from quarterback Colby Suits. The Flames’ defense, especially their secondary tore apart the Warhawks’ passing game. Suits was only able to pass for 78 yards and accounted for a 3.2 QBR on 13-of-29 completions. Former Auburn Tiger and Liberty quarterback Malik Willis picked apart the Warhawks’ inefficient defense with his dual-threat capabilities.

The Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks (0-5, 0-2 Sun Belt) will continue their tough season as they will continue in the Sun Belt after a bye week. The Warhawks could potentially finish with a 0-12 record in 2020 as they face the better teams in Sun Belt play.
