3. No. 18 Tennessee collapses in home blowout vs. Kentucky

Tennessee was looking to compete in the SEC East and for a playoff spot. In Week 6, the Volunteers had a big second-half collapse in their 44-21 road loss to No. 3 Georgia. They were looking to rebound with a win over Kentucky at home but collapsed once again as they showed little life against the Wildcats, 34-7.

This was the first time since 1984 since the Wildcats defeated the Volunteers in Knoxville. This was a year before the Volunteers finished with a 9-1-2 record. The Volunteers found no sign of offense throughout the game. Tennessee was out-gained in total yards 294-287 and it was not efficient in converting on third downs as they went 3-for-12.

The Volunteers also accounted for four turnovers in a row with two of them coming in the form of pick-sixes thanks to quarterback Jarrett Guarantano. Against the Wildcats, he threw for 88 yards and two interceptions on 14-of-21 completions. This was one of the worst performances that the Volunteers had on the offensive side of the ball in years.

Things do not get easier for the Volunteers (2-2) as they will have to host No. 2 Alabama (4-0) on Saturday. The Volunteers are currently 21.5-point underdogs to the Tide as they have not beaten Alabama since 2006. This is a game that the Volunteers are always mentally prepared for but the Tide have consistently beaten them by three possessions or more.
