College Football Rankings 2020: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 10
By Zach Bigalke
Miami made it to their second idle weekend of the 2020 season at 5-1 and hovering on the cusp of the top 10 in the AP Top 25. Other than a sobering defeat at Clemson, the Hurricanes have weathered every other test so far in Manny Diaz’s second season at the helm. With five more games waiting on the other side of this weekend, Miami is well positioned to climb higher up the rankings.
While D’Eriq King hasn’t statistically been quite as brilliant as he was in his time at Houston, the Cougars graduate transfer has solidified the quarterback position in Rhett Lashlee’s first year as the Miami offensive coordinator. The defense has held up its part as well, holding opponents to 22.2 points per game over the first half-dozen contests.
The Hurricanes head on the road to face NC State in a Friday-night game in Week 10. Hovering just outside the top 10 and just outside one of the top two positions in the ACC standings, Miami still has an outside chance to play their way back into the College Football Playoff discussion if they win out and take down Clemson in a conference title game rematch.
