College Football Rankings 2020: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 10
By Zach Bigalke
Ohio State had no trouble facing off against No. 18 Penn State on the road, and not even a Whiteout crowd at Beaver Stadium would have likely tipped the scales in favor of the Nittany Lions. The Buckeyes were already up 21-6 at halftime, and as long as they hold on in the second half and improve to 2-0 the Buckeyes will remain among the top three teams in the AP Top 25 for another week.
Justin Fields completed 15 of his first 18 passes, throwing for 147 yards and two touchdowns before halftime. Garrett Wilson busted off a 62-yard run to fuel a ground game that racked up 133 yards in the first half. A depleted Penn State offense managed only 75 total yards of offense as they fell behind by 15 points, and only Jake Pinegar’s leg separated the Nittany Lions from a shutout.
Now Ohio State looks ahead to a Week 10 showdown against a Rutgers team that has shown surprising fight early in the new campaign. The Buckeyes will be favored in every game moving forward, but the big game of the year has shifted from Happy Valley or the date against Michigan at the Horseshoe to a November 21 duel against Indiana. That contest in Columbus could turn into the de facto division title game this season.
