College Football Rankings 2020: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 10
By Zach Bigalke
With Trevor Lawrence sidelined by COVID-19, Clemson found themselves in danger of suffering their first loss against an ACC opponent since Syracuse took them down in 2017. The Tigers were down 28-13 at halftime against Boston College, but recovered to hold the Eagles scoreless in the second half of a 34-28 victory. The close call could potentially drop Clemson out of the top spot in the AP Top 25.
Whether Lawrence could done more against Boston College is questionable. D.J. Uiagalelei finished with 342 yards and two touchdowns on 30-of-41 passing and rushed for a score in his first career start. Boston College did bottle up Travis Etienne, who rushed for only 84 yards and a touchdown. Clemson’s defense held the Eagles offense to 275 total yards, especially containing the ground game.
The College Football Playoff is still right there in reach for a sixth straight year if the Tigers can keep up the winning ways and avoid a trap. Week 10 offers the biggest test yet this season, as Clemson travels to South Bend for a top-five showdown against Notre Dame. The winner will have the inside track in the ACC race as the last unbeaten standing.
