College Football Rankings 2020: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 10
By Zach Bigalke
Northwestern played their way into the AP Top 25 this week after securing their second win of the young Big Ten season. The Wildcats went to Iowa City and took down Iowa 21-10 to improve to 2-0 and put themselves in the driver’s seat of the Big Ten West race. That should be enough to get pollsters to vault Pat Fitzgerald’s team above the cut line this week.
Peyton Ramsey was a pedestrian 11-of-18 for 130 yards with an interception, and added only 26 yards on a dozen keepers. The ground game finished with a committee effort that netted all three Wildcats touchdowns, but only 143 yards. Despite finishing with fewer than 300 total yards of offense, the Huskies won thanks to a defense that forced three Spencer Petras interceptions.
Now Northwestern turns its attention to a November slate that includes Nebraska, Purdue, Wisconsin, and Michigan State. The Wildcats avoided Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State in interdivisional play, bolstering their chances of stealing away the Big Ten West title and playing their way up the rankings over the next month and a half.
