1. Jarret Doege is growing into a special quarterback

Heading into the season, it was nice to finally have a quarterback settled on after a revolving door under center a year ago. Neal Brown knew closer to the end of the season that Jarret Doege was his guy and his decision to make him QB1 has been justified so far in 2020.

Through six games, Doege has nearly 1,700 yards and 11 touchdowns with three interceptions. He’s been that steady force under center that a growing program needs.

Whenever you have a young roster with a new coach, sometimes all you need is that steady veteran quarterback and that’s what he’s been for Brown and the Mountaineers.

But he might be even more. He’s growing into something special.

For the third straight game, he’s passed for over 300 yards and he has six touchdowns with just one interception during that span. The coaching staff trusts his arm and they’re letting him air it out and that’s why you’re seeing the offense flourish.

This kid is legit.
