ACC Football Power Rankings Week 10: Clemson feeling COVID-19 impact
By Dante Pryor
7. Wake Forest (4-2, 3-2)
After losing their first two games, the Wake Forest Demon Deacons have won four games in a row. A big reason for their success has been the defense. Removing FCS Campbell, the Deacons have allowed 17.6 points per game in their last three ACC contests. The rest of their schedule is manageable. Wake Forest has a tough game against North Carolina next week.
6. Boston College (4-3, 3-3)
The Boston College Eagles gave Clemson all they could handle. Watching Phil Jurkovec play makes you wonder why the redshirt sophomore could not take any snaps from Ian Book while at Notre Dame. Jurkovec tailed off in the second half, but he played well. First year coach Jeff Hafley has put his imprint on this team already. The Eagles look prepared and confident every week. That is why they are such a tough out.
5. North Carolina (4-2, 4-2)
The North Carolina Tar Heels are successful with they can run the football. The upset loss to the Cavaliers was the worst rushing performance the Tar Heels had all season running for just 93 yards and 2.8 yards per carry. Sam Howell played well, but it was not enough against Virginia. UNC begins the “Tobacco Road” games first with Duke then Wake Forest.
4. Virginia Tech (4-2, 4-2)
The Hokies are beginning to get players back from COVID-19 protocols. After a loss to Wake Forest, the Hokie offense woke up against Louisville with a 42-35 victory. Hendon Hooker is beginning to settle in as the starting quarterback after being out of the lineup due to COVID-19. Khalil Herbert rebounded after a poor showing last week with 147 yards this week. The Hokies have a tough game against No. 25 Liberty this week
