3. Miami (5-1, 4-1)

Off this week, the Miami Hurricanes have established themselves as the third team in the ACC. Head coach Manny Diaz has to be pleased with the progress the Hurricanes have made so far this season. The Clemson game was a disappointment, but it showed how much distance the Tigers have put between them and Miami.

However, after a devastating loss to the Tigers, the Hurricanes rebounded with a rousing victory against the Pitt Panthers. Two weeks ago, the Hurricanes won an ugly game against Virginia. The Cavaliers game was a sign of maturity because you are not going to play well every week and you have to find a way to win.

The culture around the program seems to be changing. There is lots of addition by subtraction in Coral Gables. The Hurricanes turned their roster over this season due to graduation and the NFL draft. Ed Reed coming back as part of the program has helped as well. Every graduate transfer the Hurricanes have brought into the fold has played well.

Right now, the Hurricanes are in the midst of a COVID-19 outbreak. Their game this weekend against North Carolina State is currently uncertain. If they don’t play, it is unknown if the game can be made up.
