College Football Rankings 2020: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 11
By Zach Bigalke
After spotting Kansas State a 12-0 lead in the first half, Oklahoma State came back after the intermission and pulled off a 20-18 victory over the Wildcats in the battle of teams at the top of the Big 12 standings. With the win the Cowboys improved to 5-1, though they will remain outside the top 10 when the next AP Top 25 is released on Sunday. Nevertheless, the Pokes remain the top team in the conference until further notice.
Spencer Sanders had a mediocre day at quarterback, going 14-of-23 for just 108 yards through the air. Chuba Hubbard, limited by injury, finished with only 35 yards on seven total touches. LD Brown picked up the slack, running for 110 yards on 15 carries to lead the Oklahoma State ground game. The Cowboys prevailed despite getting outgained by more than 100 yards, as Kansas State’s failed decisions to go for two points on both of their touchdowns accounted for the difference on the scoreboard.
Still, Oklahoma State remains the last team in the Big 12 with even the most remote outside shot at a College Football Playoff berth. Another loss would doom the Cowboys to obsolescence, making each test as critical as the one that came before. After taking Week 11 off, the next big test on the radar is a November 21 trip to Norman for the Bedlam duel against rival Oklahoma.
