2. New quarterback, new coach, no problem

During the offseason, Mario Cristobal made one of the more difficult decisions any head coach has to make. Cristobal decided to let go of play calling duties and hired former Mississippi State head coach Joe Moorhead signaling a desire to be or of an overseer of the program. This season, quarterback Justin Herbert is in San Diego.

This first game for the new coordinator and quarterback was great. Tyler Shough threw for 227 hards and ran for 85 more. The Ducks offense looked in sync and in rhythm.

A large part of that is due to the offensive line. The offensive line was the other part of the new Oregon offense. With Penei Sewell opting out for the NFL Draft, the offensive line featured five new pieces. Mission accomplished.

The offense was a well-oiled machine with 596 total yards. The Ducks were more physical at the point of attack. The running game had 269 yards on the ground. Most important, the Ducks pushed around the Ducks vs. Cardinal rivalry. CJ Verdell ran for over 100 yards as the defense averaged nearly seven yards per carry.

If today is any indicator of how good this offense is going to be this season the rest of the Pac-12 need to watch out.
