College Football Rankings 2020: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 12
By Zach Bigalke
After taking down rival Georgia a week ago, Florida looks on pace to retain their status as the top team in the SEC East. The Gators took a 35-14 lead into the locker room at halftime against Arkansas, putting them in position to improve to 5-1. With Texas A&M sidelined this weekend due to a COVID-19 outbreak, Florida could push up into the top five of the AP Top 25 as long as they hold on for victory against the Razorbacks.
Kyle Trask racked up 285 passing yards and five touchdowns in the first half, putting the Gators comfortably in the lead. The Florida defense held former Gators quarterback Feleipe Franks to 102 yards and a touchdown through the air in his return to Gainesville. Barring a massive Razorbacks turnaround at the Swamp in the second half, Florida is on pace to run away with victory on their home turf.
Kentucky, Tennessee, and LSU are all that stands between Florida and reaching the SEC championship game for the first time since 2016. The Gators effectively have a two-game advantage in the division race, thanks to their head-to-head tiebreaker over Georgia. If they win out and claim the conference crown, Florida is definitely in the College Football Playoff.
