College Football Rankings 2020: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 12
By Zach Bigalke
Liberty had no issues against FCS Western Carolina in Week 11, putting away the Catamounts 58-14 to remain among the ranks of the unbeaten. The Flames improved to 8-0 on the season and kept pace with other independents like BYU and Army in the quest for a lucrative New Year’s Six invitation. Hugh Freeze’s team will remain in the final five of the AP Top 25 this week even after the big win.
Malik Willis had another stellar game at quarterback for the Flames, finishing 14-of-19 for 306 yards and three touchdowns. Willis added 97 rushing yards and two scores on the ground to pace Liberty to the blowout. Joshua Mack pitched in 68 yards and a rushing score as well. The Liberty defense came through in a big way, holding Western Carolina to 282 total yards of offense in the mismatch.
Liberty already has two ACC victories under their belt this season. The Flames have the chance to nab a third in Week 12 when they face NC State in Raleigh. If they can take down the Wolfpack on the road, Liberty will have a strong case to move up even further in the rankings and threaten for an at-large bid into a New Year’s Six bowl.
