1. Quick takeaways for Minnesota

The Golden Gophers seem to have their feet under them. Last season, Minnesota had a host of close non-conference games. to get things together before conference play. They had no such luck this season with a conference only schedule. Minnesota not only lost a lot of talent from last season, the Gophers lost a lot of NFL-caliber talent.

Against Purdue, Tanner Morgan had his best game so far this season throwing for 264 yards and no interceptions. Chris Autman-Bell looks like a good second option paired with Rashod Bateman. The defense still needs work. Jack Plummer had his way with the Minnesota secondary all game throwing for 367 yards.

Quick takeaways for Purdue

Despite the brutal calls that went against the Boilermakers, Jeff Brohm and his staff have to be happy with how seamless both Jack Plummer and Rondale Moore were in the offense. Plummer picked up where he left off throwing for 367 yards and three touchdowns while Moore had  career-high 15 receptions. The Boilermakers had their best day running the football this season. Led by Zander Horvath’s 68 yards, Purdue ran for 125 yards and five yards per carry.

When you blitz and don’t get home, maybe stop blitzing. The Boilermakers have to figure out a way to get pressure on the quarterback. As often as Purdue left their defensive backs in one on one situations, the Boilermakers had no sacks and one quarterback hurry.
