1. Kyle Trask is way ahead in the Heisman race

If you look at the Heisman Trophy race after Week 12, it’s essentially Kyle Trask and then everyone else. He had himself yet another big game, passing for 383 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. Did any other Heisman contender have a week like that? Not quite.

What happened with other top Heisman contenders?

  • Trevor Lawrence had another week off after the game against Florida State was cancelled on Saturday morning just hours before kickoff. He hasn’t played in almost a month.
  • Zach Wilson attempted only 16 passes and had four touchdowns, but he didn’t put up big yardage in a win over North Alabama.
  • Breece Hall picked up another 100-yard game in a win over Kansas State, but he may not have the crazy numbers to beat out a quarterback this year. And Iowa State has two losses.
  • Justin Fields had three interceptions against Indiana. He put up some decent numbers, but three turnovers and a smaller sample size isn’t going to help his campaign.
  • Mac Jones had a decent game but not as good as Trask’s. He didn’t make up any ground.

The Heisman race right now is Trask’s to lose after putting up nearly 400 yards and three touchdowns again.

On the season, he has 2,554 yards and 31 touchdowns (first in the nation) with the nation’s third-best QBR and a completion rate of 74 percent. The Heisman is all but locked up.
