Projected 2020 College Football Playoff Top 25 rankings for Week 14
By Zach Bigalke
Texas A&M was up 20-0 after three quarter against LSU at home on Saturday evening. As long as they hold on to win and improve to 6-1 they will keep themselves in the hunt for a spot in the College Football Playoff. Given how the selection committee favored the Aggies over SEC East leader Florida given A&M’s head-to-head win over the Gators, that position will likely hold for another week as we head into December. Jimbo Fisher’s team is in great position to swoop into a top-four position at the moment.
Kellen Mond had a rough outing in the victory, completing only 10 of his first passes. Mond threw for 100 yards in the first 45 minutes, and he ran for 18 yards. Isaiah Spiller picked up the slack on the ground, rushing for 127 yards and a score to fuel the offensive effort. Texas A&M came through on defense, holding LSU under one yard per carry and forcing three turnovers in three quarters to lock in a big lead in their’ home finale.
The schedule sends Texas A&M on the road over the first two weekends of December. The Aggies play at Auburn in Week 14 and then close out the regular season at Tennessee on December 12. If A&M can win out and end the year 8-1 (or 9-1 if the Ole Miss game can be rescheduled), they are guaranteed to land in a New Year’s Six bowl and could have a realistic shot at reaching the semifinals.
