2. Iowa (at Illinois)

Illinois isn’t great, but I’m not convinced Iowa is, either.

On one hand Iowa’s two losses are to Northwestern and Purdue, although that Purdue looks worse now than it did. On the other, Iowa’s victories came over four mediocre-to-bad teams: Michigan State, Penn State, Minnesota and Nebraska. Those teams have a combined record of 6-15.

Illinois has certainty been playing better as of late. They’ve won two in a row, granted those wins are against Rutgers and Nebraska. But at 2-3, with quarterback Brandon Peters back, Illinois is not a team to be glossed over.

The Illini offense is going to need to being their A game against a solid as usual Hawkeye defense. Top receiver Josh Imatorbhebhe has been underwhelming this year, but that should change with Peters back at the helm.

Illinois wasn’t far off last year — they lost 19-10 — so they don’t have a ton of ground to make up. This could be the game where we see who the real Iowa team is.
