1. Quick takeaways for Kansas State

Though the Wildcats were blown out in this game, the future is bright for Kansas State. Will Howard was thrust into action before he was ready, but he flashed at times during this game. Running back Deuce Vaughn is already the best player on Kansas State’s offense.

The defense needs to get better, but they — like the offense is playing a lot of younger players. The defensive line got beat up all game long, however. The Wildcats need to improve their talent depth in the trenches on defense.

Quick takeaways for Texas

Longhorns head coach Tom Herman has to be happy the way the Longhorns played this afternoon. The rumblings is that Herman might be coaching for his job. After their loss to Oklahoma State, the Longhorns have one three games in a row. This game, however was the Longhorns most dominant performance of the season offensively. This sort of running game would serve the Longhorns well.

Herman, however, has to be concerned about the defense, however. Texas surrendered 31 points to an offense that is missing their senior quarterback and one dangerous player. The Wildcats were able to gash the Longhorns for 274 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. This knowing the Wildcats were largely one-dimensional.
