College Football 2020: Ranking the 3 worst losses from Week 14
1. Duke Blue Devils shutout by the #10 Miami Hurricanes 48-0
There were several lopsided matchups this past weekend in week 14 of the season. The worst loss of the week goes to the Duke Blue Devils, who continues to have a terrible season. The Blue Devils traveled to the No. 10 Miami Hurricanes as they were dominated and shut out with a 48-0 score. This loss will contend with the worst losses of the season.
Duke was dominated on both sides of the ball against the Hurricanes. Offensively, the Blue Devils only accounted for 177 total yards with 56 of them coming from the rushing game. They were only able to account for 14 first downs. Duke quarterback Chase Brice threw for 94 yards and a QBR of 32.3 on 20 completions (out of 25 passing attempts).
The defense of the Hurricanes consistently tortured the offensive line of the Blue Devils as they crashed the line of scrimmage and into the backfield. Miami’s defense accounted for three sacks and 13 tackles for loss. This is a huge indication of why Duke only averaged 1.7 yards per rush on 33 carries for 56 yards.
The defense for the Blue Devils allowed the main playmakers of the Hurricanes in dual-threat quarterback D’Eric King and running back Cam’Ron Harris to have huge performances. Duke allowed the Hurricanes to account for 524 total yards and 24 first downs. They allowed the Hurricanes to score 21 points in the first half followed by 21 points in the third quarter.
The Blue Devils (2-8; 1-8 in ACC play) will finish their 2020 season at the Florida State Seminoles (2-6; 1-6 in ACC play).
