3. Miami crushed by North Carolina

One of the most anticipated matchups of the week was the ACC ranked matchup between the No. 17 North Carolina Tar Heels and the No. 10 Miami Hurricanes.

The Hurricanes came into the game versus the Tar Heels as a three-point favorite. While the Hurricanes have the talent and productivity to contend as a top ACC team, they didn’t present in such a manner as they are still not back to their early-2000s playing ability.

Miami was dominated by the Tar Heels 62-26 in their own stadium. The idea of a unique quarterback battle between Sam Howell and D’Eriq King was an exciting presentation. King was the only significant playmaker in the game against the Tar Heels. King accounted for 292 total yards on offense while the rest of the Hurricanes’ runners only accounted for 22 yards.

The offensive line of the Hurricanes allowed three sacks and seven tackles for loss from the Tar Heels’ aggressive defense. The Tar Heels also knocked down eight passes of King that stalled their only efficient offensive unit of the game.

On the defensive side of the ball, Miami was dominated by the Tar Heels. North Carolina accumulated 778 total yards of offense, including 554 yards on the ground on 55 carries for an average of 10.1 yards per rush. Tar Heel running back Michael Carter rushed for 308 yards and two scores on 24 carries while Javonte Williams rushed for 236 yards and three touchdowns on 23 carries.
