2. Arkansas becomes latest victim of Alabama thrashing

The No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide continue to roll their way to their sixth College Football Playoff appearance in seven years by dominating every team they face along the way. The latest team from Alabama’s revenge season was the Arkansas Razorbacks as they were dominated at home with 52-3.

The Crimson Tide didn’t need to initiate their elite deep passing game to beat the Razorbacks, but they were finding every single hole of that Razorbacks’ defense to continually drive the ball. The Razorbacks allowed 443 total yards with 216 of them coming from the rushing game. Five of the Tide’s six touchdowns came from the rushing game with three rushers accounting for a score.

With the easy success of driving the ball through the short-to-mid-range passing game, there were no passing touchdowns needed in the game for either quarterback Mac Jones or wide receiver DeVonta Smith. Late in the first quarter, Smith was able to return an 84-yard punt for a touchdown.

The Razorbacks’ offense rarely found success in extending drives outside of the first quarter. Arkansas was only able to accumulate 188 total yards and 13 first downs. They also turned the ball over four times against the Tide’s defense, who was crushing Arkansas at the line of scrimmage. Arkansas’ offensive line allowed eight sacks and 10 tackles for loss.
