Nebraska Football: 3 Husker signees who’ll have instant impact
Marques Buford
Pass defense has been an issue for Nebraska football well before the tenure of Scott Frost and it’s something that will need to improve.
But one player that could offer some immediate help in the secondary next season is Marques Buford, a recruit that is coming out of a prep school in Texas.
Buford is just a three-star prospect and his national ranking is No. 782 in the 247 sports composite rankings, but he has a good offer list that also includes Florida State, Iowa State, Ole Miss, Arizona, Cal and Texas A&M.
Buford is 6-foot, 190 pounds and one great thing about him is that he has experience playing both corner and safety, which is valuable for any defensive back in today’s game. He also is a year out of high school and is a year older, which could help him be ready quicker than other freshman.
There is playing time to be had if Buford translates as the smart, tough-nosed defender he appears to be, then he will take up some of those snaps in the defensive backfield.
