4. Army beats Air Force for Commander-In-Chief’s Trophy

Not even COVID-19 could keep one of the biggest rivalries in college football from happening. This Saturday, the Army Black Knights (8-2) will host the Air Force Falcons (3-2) in West Point. Both the Black Knights and the Falcons have already defeated their rivals in Navy earlier in the season. The winner of this game will the Commander-In-Chief’s Trophy between the three military teams.

The Falcons are coming into this game as 2.5-point favorites over the Black Knights mostly due to the big 40-7 win over Navy earlier in the year.

The offenses of these teams are very similar. Army’s offense ranks 61st in the nation in points per game (29) and fourth in rushing yards per game (280.1). The offense for the Falcons ranks 69th in the nation in points per game (27.8) and second in rushing yards per game (336).

Army’s defense has 19 total touchdowns with only five of them being rushing touchdowns in 10 games this season. Air Force’s defense has allowed 11 total touchdowns with only three of them being rushing touchdowns in five games this season. Army’s defense is more composed and consistent compared to the defense of the Falcons. The Black Knights are more efficient in stopping opposing offenses convert on third downs compared to Air Force (34 to 44 percent).

The Black Knights will win their third Commander-In-Chief’s Trophy in four seasons with a big won over Air Force this Saturday. This will make the ninth time they have won the Trophy in the 49 years of the intense rivalry.
