It was tough to rank Corey Collier ahead of Jason Marshall because I truly believe the latter can be an All-SEC caliber player early in his career with his lockdown ability and 6-2, 180-pound frame. However, Collier is coming in as the Gators face a major need at safety.

Shawn Davis and Donovan Stiner are both leaving presumably, which means that Collier could come in to a secondary in need of two safeties and push for early snaps.

Like Marshall, Collier is coming in as an early enrollee after signing on Wednesday and he should join the five-star cornerback as the future of the secondary. That future can get started early on this winter with the two learning that defense and developing chemistry with the rest of the secondary.

Collier was actually teammates with Marshall so they have a strong familiarity with each other and they could both end up as starters by their sophomore seasons.

I do see Collier getting some early snaps in 2021 with both safeties gone.

He’s ranked the No. 110 overall prospect and sixth-best safety in the 2021 class.
